New Maine Legislation

An Act to Ensure Ethical Standards for Court Reporters

The MeCRA Board, in conjunction with the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, worked on a bill to enact legislation that will protect our state from outside contracting. This issue is important to not only us but the lawyers we work with and the litigants they serve.

We are pleased to announce that Governor LePage has signed the bill, and the bill became law on Monday, October 7, 2013.

A recording of the informational meeting held for all Maine court reporters on September 23, 2013, at Penley House Bed & Breakfast in Auburn, Maine, can be found here:  http://youtu.be/rEADDU5lrps

The law in its entirety can be found here:  Maine 126 SP 543 Item 3
